Weight Loss Retreat Overnight Oats

This breakfast dish is an absolute favourite on the FitFarms weight loss retreat courses.

First of all lets look at the oats and which ones we are going to use. The healthiest of all oats are 'steel cut oats' which are also known as Irish Oatmeal. These are groats that are cut into 2 or 3 pieces by a steel blade. They are usually larger than rolled and quick oats. They have more fibre and also the lowest glycemic index which make them better for blood sugar control.

In your local supermarket you may not have the option of buying Irish Oatmeal. You will probably be presented with a choice between 'rolled oats' or 'quick oats'. Stay away from the quick oats because they usually have added sugar. They are also smaller so you digest them faster which causes your blood glucose to rise faster. Instead go for rolled oats. Have a good luck at the oat flake and choose the oats with the largest flakes.
