Life Coaching at Weight Loss Camp | FitFarms Camp Report

This special blog post report is what happened in one of our recent FitFarms fat camp weeks as reported by one of our instructors.

Today as always, we have the life coaching workshop. Now regardless of what you may or may not think about things like affirmations or the power of positive thinking these classes are always a great way to open your mind to new ideas or concepts that may help you with your motivation and lifestyle change.

We often have to deal with a lot of preconceptions about aspects of our courses, firstly there is the idea it will be a boot camp and we; the instructors will be bossy and demanding.

Another is that weights are bad for you and that by doing them you'll end up looking like the sun glasses and biker leathers wearing cyborg from the future whose come to destroy humanity.

Another common preconception that we encounter is that life coaching is in some way it is obligatory to open up and talk about all the terrible things that have brought you to this point in your journey, to reveal your deepest darkest secrets and to seek acceptance from those around you and this puts people off going to the session sometimes. The reason I say preconception instead of misconception is because it's not totally wrong, depending very much on what changes you need to make as an individual really dictates what life coaching means for you but in general it is a brain storming session, let’s be honest if you knew exactly what changes you needed to make and how to make them. You wouldn't really need to come away for a week to figure it all out, would you?

I think the life coaching sessions are the single most important session on our retreats. They help with confidence, with plotting your direction, with focusing on what's important and prioritising it, as well as understanding, accepting and working with your limitations or restrictions, this week’s group were all open minded and enthusiastic and that was evident from the start, the way they approached every class and walk and the listened so intently to our opinions and advice. SO it was no surprise that the life coaching workshops went so well and the group seemed to gain a lot from them and once again it seemed to give the group that little bit of a mental boost to fight on and see this week through. As I'm sure those of you that have joined us on one or more of our weeks will remember, it is a real challenge and takes an awful lot of spirit and desire to see it through but it is well worth it in the end and the feeling of hope and positivity and clarity and focus that you have, the ideas and plans that you make for when you go home, it's a fantastic experience and one that I hope stays with you all during the tough times when you don't feel your getting to where you want to be because that little bit of hope will be the difference between giving up and following the latest fad diet or staying strong and true and knowing that you will get there in the end.

Finally for any of you that would like some support or new ideas to add another spark to your training remember that we are just an email or Facebook message away, or even go to the website and use the blog page, it's always great to hear from you guys and to know we can still be helpful to you even once you have completed the course.
