Juicing at the FitFarms Weight Loss Retreat

Juicing is a great way to get some really tasty, healthy nutrients into your body. Our FitFarms weight loss retreat number one rule with juicing is not to use it as a meal substitute but instead as an extra to top up your nutrient levels. The main reasons for this is lack of protein and healthy fats because the majority of juice are high in carbohydrate and low in protein and the essential healthy fats. The other main reason is 'reduced satiety' because liquid calories unfortunately do not fill you up in the same way as sold food types do. This can lead to hunger problems and ultimately unhealthy snacking.

FitFarms Weight Loss Retreat Pre Workout Power Juice

Ingredients

1 good sized beetroot (We use this because it helps with stamina and blood flow)

1 medium apple (We find that Granny Smiths are the best apples for this recipe)

1 medium carrot (Great for natural sugars and carrots are a good source of beta - carotene)

1/2 cucumber (cucumbers are great for hydration and electrolytes)

1/2 inch of fresh ginger (it's a great anti - inflammatory)

1/2 lemon (this gives the juice a real zest and also adds vitamin C)

Preparation Method

Make sure to wash all the ingredients before chopping. Then chop into chunks so they fit nicely into your juicer. Then juice everything together and stir well.

Ideally you need to drink this 45 minutes before you exercise to get the full benefits of the pre workout drink.
